Saudi Arabia: King Salman declares that every year on March 11 shall be National Flag Day

According to Saudi Gazette, Saudi Arabia has declared March 11 to be observed as National Flag Day each year. King Salman, the caretaker of the Two Holy Mosques, made the announcement on Wednesday and underlined that it was to commemorate the nation's founding.
Speaking of the date, King Salman says that King Abdul Aziz raised the flag on March 11, 1937 AD, or the 27th of Dhul Hijjah 1355 AH. But, he chose to observe flag day because of what it represents throughout Saudi Arabia's history since it was established in 1139 AH, or 1727 AD.

For Saudi Arabia, the centre of the flag represents the founding principles of Islam and its message of "peace," upon which the nation was established. The sword on the flag is a symbol of "cohesion, alliance, and national unity," as well as "strong, dignity, wisdom, and status."

The Saudi flag, according to the King, has "for nearly three centuries" symbolised the "country's cohesion" under the leadership of the "Saudi state," while "the residents" have viewed it as "a banner of pride and elegance."

King Salman adds that the Basic Law of Government of the Kingdom and the Flag Law were taken into consideration when the decision to declare March 11 as National Flag Day was made
