Your Netflix profile can now be transferred to an existing account

Starting today, any Netflix subscriber can move their profile to an active account. Users who are moving in with roommates or a partner and want to keep all of their settings and recommendations while dividing the cost should find it a little bit easier as a result. This was a highly sought feature, the business informed Engadget.

Users have had the option to create a new account with their old profile since October. In this way, when they move out of their parents' house or break up with an ex, they can still access their watching history, saved titles in My List, game save data, and other preferences. However, you would need to create a new account if you didn't already have one to relocate your profile there.

The function was initially made available by Netflix before it intensified its war on password sharing. The company started charging customers extra in February in Canada, New Zealand, Portugal, and Spain to continue allowing friends and relatives who don't reside with them to access their account. In May, the business expanded the account-sharing fees to the US.

According to a third-party investigation, the number of new accounts in the US increased right after Netflix began enforcing the rule there. When the company releases its quarterly profits reports the following week, we'll soon be able to see just how well the approach is serving the needs of the business.
