After nine years gone, Messenger is coming back to the Facebook mobile app

Facebook should be "the ideal destination for social discovery and sharing," according to Meta, not TikTok.

Since Messenger was removed by Meta from the Facebook mobile app so long ago, Windows Phone has barely existed. Over nine years later, Meta is prepared to reunite them. Facebook CEO Tom Alison commented, "We are testing the ability for individuals to view their Messenger inbox within the Facebook app and you'll see us broaden this testing shortly. In the end, whether through the Messenger app or directly on Facebook, we want connecting and sharing to be simple and convenient for users

"Our objective is to focus development resources on make Messenger the greatest mobile messaging experience possible and prevent the confusion of having distinct Facebook mobile messaging experiences," Meta said when it pulled Messenger from the Facebook app in 2014. It's unclear whether Meta intends to reinstate messaging on Facebook's mobile browser. In 2016, it started directing mobile site visitors to the Messenger app. In any event, it's probably not a terrible idea to have one less app to manage on your phone. It's possible that you may message Instagram people via the Facebook app as well.

In an oddly worded blog post regarding Facebook's emphasis areas for 2023, Meta made the announcement. The post attempts to convince readers that "Facebook is not dead nor fading," since it currently has more than 2 billion members.

Meta is seeking to change Facebook from an app where you keep up with friends and family to more of an entertainment and discovery platform in an effort to compete with TikTok. Making Facebook "the ideal destination for social discovery and sharing" is the goal, according to Alison in the blog post.

In order to "make it simpler for individuals to share what they discover on Facebook via messaging, when, where, and how it suits their requirements, without needing to move to another app," Alison wrote, Meta is bringing messaging back to the Facebook app. TikTok users may utilise the built-in direct messaging feature to share films they come onto with their friends. In this sense, Meta is both changing its strategy and returning to an earlier method of doing things while also imitating a rival.
