Apple said the satellite feature in the iPhone 14 will roll out in six more nations later this month

Apple said today that the Emergency SOS via Satellite function will be accessible in Austria, Belgium, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, and Portugal later this month in addition to the new iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus in Yellow.

When a user is outside the area of cellular and Wi-Fi connectivity, the capability enables iPhone 14 models to connect to a Globalstar satellite and transmit text messages to emergency services. Apple issues a warning that vegetation or other obstructions may cause messages to send slowly or not at all, and that satellite connectivity may not be available in areas above 62° latitude. After activating an iPhone 14 for two years, the service is free.

Emergency SOS by Satellite, which needs an iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, or iPhone 14 Pro Max, was originally introduced in November in the United States and Canada. In December, the service was made accessible in France, Germany, Ireland, and the UK.
