Users will soon be able to decide when group talks end on WhatsApp

There's a new feature you might like if you've ever started or joined a WhatsApp group conversation for a single occasion but kept forgetting to remove it for years thereafter. A new iOS beta discovered by WaBetaInfo indicates that WhatsApp is testing "Expiring Groups," which will allow you to choose an expiration date for group discussions.

The Expiring Groups option will show up in the group's settings, allowing you to select choices like a day, week, or custom date, according to a screenshot. If you want to keep the discussion going, you may also prevent an expiration from happening. The group may still exist, but without you. Any expiration dates specified will seemingly only apply to you and not other participants.

It looks like WhatsApp won't just remove a group without alerting you, since the description adds that "you will be requested to clean up groups on the expiration date." But, it should help clear up clutter in your account and conserve some device storage space, much like vanishing messages.
