The 2023 MacBook Pro with M2 Pro from Apple is currently $200 cheaper

Little over a month after its release, the 14.2-inch Pro is available for $1,799 on Amazon.com.

Apple just updated its MacBook Pro notebooks, but thanks to a new promotion, the 14-inch model is now only $1,799 at Amazon and B&H. That's $150 less than this combination often sells for on Amazon, $200 less than Apple's MSRP, and the biggest reduction we've ever seen. According to B&H's advertisement, the offer will expire on Tuesday only. Keep in mind that only the Space Gray model is on sale.

The entry-level 14-inch machine, which has a new M2 Pro processor with a 10-core CPU and 16-core GPU, 16GB of Memory, and 512GB of SSD storage, qualifies for this discount. The 3,024 x 1,964 resolution 14.2-inch Mini-LED display offers refresh rates up to 120Hz for slicker scrolling. A 1080p webcam and three Thunderbolt 4 USB-C connections are included, along with an HDMI 2.1 port, a full-sized SD card slot, a MagSafe connector for charging, and a headphone jack. The display notch is designed after the iPhone's.

In January, we gave the most recent 14-inch MacBook Pro a review score of 92. The main advantages are the same even if that study was based on a higher-power configuration than this discounted model. In essence, the new MacBook Pro is only a speed bump, but it is still a quick and reliable computer for power users. It still has a fantastic display, a comfortable keyboard and trackpad, excellent speakers, and a battery life that can last for more than a full workday. On the other hand, despite the price, the system is still costly and scarcely upgradeable, but that is a common problem with Macs. The less priced options contain a 67W charger in addition to this entry-level unit.

The new chip is the only significant update in this. For most owners of the previous MacBook Pro, this M2 Pro edition isn't worth the upgrade, as its graphics performance still lags below the M2 Max processor found in the more expensive Pro models. The storage performance of this entry-level model is technically inferior to that of the previous entry-level 14-inch Pro due to the configuration of its NAND chips.

Despite that, this is still a strong notebook. The great majority of the time, any storage reduction is unlikely to be noticed, and the CPU and GPU performance here still represents a decent improvement for most users wanting to replace an older Intel-based Pro. The 14-inch MacBook Pro is a wonderful option for those ready to spend more for greater performance, and this bargain at least slightly reduces the price, even though the M2 MacBook Air is the superior option for most consumers looking for a general-purpose laptop.
