The Morning After: In less than a week, Meta's Threads surpasses 100 million users

According to Quiver Quantitative's Threads Tracker, the app had more than 100 million users within four days after being online on Wednesday evening. Instagram's billion-plus users can easily join up for Thread because it is a sibling app, excepting those who reside in the European Union.

Even though Threads has a sizable audience, it is still very, very early in the game. There are no hashtags, you can only search for usernames, and, perhaps specifically for me, you can't post movies or photographs.

The absence of a chronological feed, however, is the worst aspect of early Threads. Instead, its algorithmic feed is crammed with celebrities, brands, and influencers, none of whom I care about. Additionally, your feed will show any replies to those accounts from people you follow. My finger is already perilously near to the mute and unfollow buttons for a few of my nameless Engadget colleagues. right now.
