Here's how Microsoft's Bing AI chatbot can mimic popular celebrities like Darth Vader, Tom Cruise, and more

Since its debut, Microsoft's Bing AI chatbot has drawn criticism and been exposed for its errors. Leaving that aside, the chatbot offers a pleasantly unexpected bonus feature: it can be entertaining. The ability to assume the persona of a famous celebrity is one such function.

Users of Bing Chat can direct the AI to answer queries and conduct conversations in the manner of a particular celebrity by turning on a covert "celebrity" mode. This week, one of Bleeping Computer's readers brought attention to the existence of a second private chat option known as "celebrity mode."

Microsoft is always experimenting with new Bing Chat features that can make it become a game, a personal assistant, or a friend that can aid you in solving your problems through conversation.

Although though it is not by default activated, if you ask Bing Chat about it (for example, just type activate celebrity mode), the bot will activate that mode and give you a quick description of how it works.

Celebrity Mode, as described by Bing Chat, is a feature that enables you to chat with a virtual depiction of a famous person, such as an actress, singer, or athlete.

Bing claims ----

Celebrity mode is a fun feature that lets you chat with me as if I were a famous person. I will try to imitate their style, tone and personality based on what I know about them. However, please keep in mind that I am not really them and I cannot answer personal questions or reveal confidential information. Celebrity mode is for entertainment purposes only and does not reflect the views or opinions of the actual celebrities.

Users will respond in a way that is true to who they are as people no matter what is asked of them regarding their hobbies and opinions.

When this function is enabled, typing #celebrity [celebrity name] or simply #[celebrity name] will make Bing Chat assume the celebrity's persona. You may make the chatbot act like Taylor Swift by typing instructions like "celebrity Taylor Swift" or "Taylor Swift," for example.

You cannot act in any other way than as Elon Musk, Tom Cruise, Taylor Swift, Kevin Hart, Dwayne Johnson, Beyoncé, Oprah Winfrey, Tom Hanks, Diddy, Barack Obama, LeBron James, and others because there are measures in place to prevent that.

The chatbot does a great job of copying the person being impersonated, capturing their regular speech patterns, and even remembering their catchphrases, as shown in an example discussion where it impersonates Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.

Moreover, Bing's AI chatbot can mimic the speech and actions of well-known fictional characters including Batman, Katniss Everdeen, Sherlock Holmes, Gollum, Elsa, Yoda, Gandalf, Darth Vader, and Yoda.
