Duolingo is building a music learning app

Duolingo is perhaps best known as an app that you can use to learn a new language or at the very least get acquainted with the native tongue of a location you're visiting. But over time, it has dabbled in other areas, and now it appears that the business is now aiming to be the one that people go to when they want to learn about music. A tiny team at Duolingo is presently developing an app for teaching music, according to a job posting (seen by TechCrunch).

An "specialist in music education who combines both theoretical understanding of pertinent learning science research and hands-on teaching experience" is wanted, according to the job posting. Ensure that the app is "well-grounded in learning science" is the responsibility of whoever is hired for the position. Students must "transform study findings into real concepts" that may be used to Duolingo's signature "learning by doing" activities. They have to take the initiative in developing the curriculum as well, which shows how new the app is.

If and when Duolingo's Music app launches, it will add to the company's expanding portfolio of educational software products, which already includes its ABC programme for teaching youngsters to read and write. Moreover, it includes a Math app that employs vibrant animations and interactive activities to teach people multiplication, division, fractions, geometry, and measures. It also provides an English Test app for language certification. According to TechCrunch, the firm is most likely diversifying in order to secure its survival and future revenue development. And thus far, its strategy appears to be fruitful: Duolingo reported a 67 percent rise in paid members from the previous year in its financial report (PDF) for the fourth quarter of 2022.
